Ya know what I hate? Recipe blog posts where you have to scroll for 2 years to find the actual recipe. If you’re looking for a bunch of recipe fluff, you won’t find it here.
Today’s post is the recipe for my enchilada bake. Its quick, easy, and budget friendly because as a new mom I barely have time to eat let alone spend the evening preparing something elaborate. Lets be honest, I end up eating every meal cold anyways. Is that a permanent thing when you become a Mom? I’ll keep you posted.
As a disclaimer, I am not a chef. This is merely a description of how I like to cook this meal. I inherited my grandmother’s cooking skills – do you want that burnt or extra burnt? Happy cooking! Continue reading “Enchilada Bake”
Hopefully everyone can say they have at least one ride-or-die friend. Don’t know what that means? A ride-or-die friend is easily described as someone who has your back 24/7 no matter what. A friend like this is usually acquired after experiencing the ups and downs of life together. You may have known each other for 30 years or 3 days, doesn’t really matter. What matters is the trust and loyalty you have built together. A ride-or-die is an essential part of your dream team… and your relationship… But that’s another post for another day. Today’s blog post is on what happens to your friendships after you become a mother. Your friendships will change, some will be completely broken, and if you don’t know who your ride-or-dies are, you’ll find out! Continue reading “When you become a Mom, but your friends don’t”
Hi everyone! And Happy Fri-Yay! I’d love to start scheduling a post to be published every Friday so if you’re liking what you’re seeing then hit follow and mark your calendars!
Today’s blog post is about MUST HAVES for your baby 0-3 months old. My daughter recently turned 3 months old and, like I wrote in my post “3 things I wish I knew about becoming a Mom”, I feel like we are coming out of the thick of it. The first 3 months spent with your newborn are so hard! Our little one rarely slept and constantly nursed so let me tell you, we tried almost everything under the sun to help cope. Out of all the baby products we purchased I thought I’d share our favorites that actually helped. Products are linked!
As a new Mom of a 3 month old baby girl, I understand how precious time is. Every spare moment is spent rushing to sleep, or to feed and bathe yourself. I also understand that when you do find that rare time to leave your home, or if you decide to have the type of company over who have never seen the 3-months-no-sleep version of you, that maybe you’d like to at least have the option of covering up some of the “mombie”. The routine I have created for such moments is super quick and simple yet reliable for bringing back some of that pregnancy glow. 😏
Becoming a Mom is hard. Being a Mom is HARD. There are hundreds? of books on what to do, what to buy, how to be for Moms and soon-to-be Moms and yet the majority of them only give a small peek into what life is really like for us. Is this because they don’t want to scare us? I think what’s even scarier is getting blind sighted when you thought motherhood was going to be all roses and glitter. I’m a brand-new, stay-at-home Mama and these are the top 3 things I wish someone would have told me about becoming a Mom. Hopefully you read this and feel validated or it at least takes away some of your shock!
Hello! and welcome to the Sykes Family blog. We are glad you’ve found us and hope you find something here that helps you on your path forward.
My name is Alyse. I am the wife and mama of the Sykes Fam. I hope for this blog to be a place where my family lands; a place where we can express our experiences and have it be impactful on the world. Think big right? I have to take credit for the idea, and thus the fault if its a total failure, but hopefully over time this will truly be a family blog and not just one from my perspective.
